Description

The Atomic Aquatics BC2 BCD is a back inflation BCD that’s made from a unique double-laminated polyurethane-coated fabric and corrosion-resistant metals. Giving it a sleek, clean look, this scuba BC retains less water so you glide easily through the water with less resistance. Heavy duty materials also mean your BC will stand up to the elements and resist normal wear and tear.

Atomic also added their EZ-LOK Weight Release System to this BCD so you have integrated weights that are equally easy to load, remove, and jettison when necessary. The two zippered pouches hold up to 10 lbs each. The Ratcheting CAM-LOK Tank Band is quick and easy to adjust so you’re in the water quicker. This strong one-piece band is polyurethane coated and sealed so it stays in place.

Atomic Aquatics took the design of the BC2 up a notch. Not only did they make the exterior water resistant, the inner air bladder is repairable and replaceable which means your BC life just got extended. With a quilted backpad and adjustable lumbar pad, you’ll appreciate that you’re going to be using this BC for a long time. All pocket zippers are self-sealing and sand resistant, protecting your gear and further extending the life of your BC. And the custom 316 Stainless Steel D-rings with Titanium PVD coating mean you’ve got strategically placed d-rings that will last so you can take all your accessories with you. We could spend the day telling you about all the features, including low profile weight pockets, the non-skid tank pad, dump valves and how the inflation and deflation system works. But you want to get in the water and dive. So pick yours up today and get back to diving.

4 out of 5 stars

Almost perfect BCD

I replace my Zeagle Ranger BCD with this one. Namely because of the Atomic name...I've used Atomic titanium regulators since the '90s and I trust the brand explicitly. This BCD doesn't disappoint. It is beautifully made. The materials are top notch and the workmanship is as well. I love that I can rinse my BC and store it immediately...never have to wait for it to dry. So why only four stars? Well, it isn't a lightweight BCD...this isn't one you can stow in a backpack and pack in a carryon. It's a bit heavy and definitely leans toward checked baggage. The other thing I would have liked to see is a place to attach a crotch strap. With back-inflated BCDs a crotch strap is a game changer, making the time you're floating around waiting to be picked up by a boat much more pleasant. The weight issue wouldn't have lost the BCD a star...it doesn't bill itself as a travel BCD, so there's no inherent expectation for a carryon-packable BCD. But I hope in a future iteration Atomic will make accommodation for a crotch strap.
