The Mares Journey 3.0 Scuba BCD is the latest in the Mares Journey Line. It has all the features of prior models, but now comes equipped with the new Mares Slide Locking System (SLS). With the Slide Locking System, weights easily and securely snap into place and are quickly removed when you press the button. Their unique design has an indicator on the outside of the pouch so you always know when your weights are locked in. It turns green when the locking mechanism is securely fastened and red when it's disengaged.
This full-featured back inflation BCD has a dedicated knife attachment, 5 aluminum D-Rings, and 1 Roll-up pocket to keep all your tools handy. 2 Dump Valves and interior weight pockets in the back bladder improve trim. A carrying handle provides easy transport while the quick-release chest strap is height adjustable. With the provided neck padding, you get a very comfortable fit and the quick-release hook-and-loop waist strap is fully adjustable. Bungees keep the rear air bladder streamlined for a lower profile above and below the waves. The attached safety whistle is handy in emergencies.

The trim weight pockets can each support up to 5lbs of weight. Each of the SLS Slide and Lock Weight pockets hold 8.81lbs You can dive with up to 26lbs of weight with this BCD

The Mares Journey BCD is not discontinued. The Mares Journey BCD is exclusive to Divers Direct, this is why you will not find it anywhere else including the Mares website. However it is still supported by Mares in regards to service therefore parts will be available to have it serviced at any authorized Mares dealer. The Mares Journey BCD offers more padding and support. It also offers a more stout rugged design compared to the Mares BOLT BCD. The Mares BOLT BCD is a travel friendly option as it is more minimal of a design. The Mares BOLT BCD and the Mares Journey BCD both have the same integrated weight system. Both BCD's also offer the ability to dive with trim weights.

The Mares Pure Cargo Pocket The Cargo Pocket replaces the SLS system found on the Pure SLS. In cases where the SLS system is not required, it can be replaced with this handy pocket which attaches to the belt.

The Journey would not be considered a travel BCD. The weight of a small Mares Journey 3.0 Scuba BCD is around 8lbs. Typically, a travel BCD is going to be closer to the 5lbs mark. Additionally, it does not fold up as well as some other travel BCDs. The smallest tank this BCD will fit is an aluminum 50cf cylinder
