Neoprene is safe in chlorinated water. However, you will want to wash your vest afterwards to keep it from degrading over time.

I would recommend size Large. These vests typically fit a little smaller. Additionally, I believe the Medium would fit according to your Height and Waist measurement, but would not fit your Chest measurement, which is more important when zipping up the vest and providing the proper fit.

Yes, this is true to size. Keep in mind, this is a 2mm neoprene vest that is designed to fit tighter.
