The Gear You'll Get

**Your instructor will provide you with the following rental scuba gear:

  • BCD is a buoyancy compensator device and is what makes you to float or sink
  • Regulator so you can breathe underwater
  • Octopus because it's important to always have a back up for your regulator, be it for you or your buddy
  • Dive Computer and Gauge is what gives you crucial information such as depth and time left underwater
  • Scuba tank so you can use the regulator

If you're taking the advanced open water class, you're already in love with the ocean. A BC that fits you like a glove, a regulator and octo that you chose, and a dive computer for your type of adventure make a big difference on your experience. Take advantage of our 10% discount on your gear equipment when you get certified with us!

PADI and SSI Diving Agencies

Divers Direct connects you to PADI and SSI instructors. Both agencies teach you the same material and are globally known. You can start with one agency and cross to another one, or you can continue to collect certification from different agencies. Many of our instructors are certified in at least two different agencies!

What's the difference?

PADI offers you two option to pick from: classroom and e-learning. In the classroom version, your tuition includes your PADI Open Water book. The e-learning provides you with all the material online, meaning you can study it from anywhere you want.

SSI only offers e-learning. However, as a trial, SSI provides you with the first three chapters of Try Scuba, Scuba Diver, Try Freediving, SSI Mission Deep Blue, Snorkeling and Various Courses FOR FREE when you download the MySSI app (Android and iOS). On top of that, SSI's Open Water Certification class includes Nitrox at no additional charge.

What's Nitrox?

Nitrox is the certification many divers acquire right after their open water. This certification allows you to dive for long periods of time and multiple times a day without worrying about the bends. This means when you sign up for SSI, you're getting two certifications in one class!
