Suunto D9 Dive Computer with Transmitter
The Suunto D9 dive computer is the first dive computer to include both a digital compass and the ability to wirelessly monitor your tank pressure. This means no more having to check several instruments while you're diving - with a single glance at your wrist, you can monitor your depth, decompression data, dive time, tank pressure, direction, and tank status. All your critical dive data is presented in one place and easy to read. So it's easy to keep track of exactly how much time you can spend underwater, how deep you are, when you'll have to surface, and how fast you can ascend - everything you need to know to get the most out of every dive, without compromising your safety.
The D9 digital compass works both on the surface and underwater, displaying a graphic compass rose, as well as bearings in degrees. You can lock in your desired bearing, and the compass will guide you in the correct direction. Or, for navigating in triangular or a square patterns, visual aids let you know when you're traveling at a 90 or 120 degree angle to the locked bearing, as well as when you're moving directly toward or away from the bearing.
The other stand-out feature of the Suunto D9 is the optional wireless transmitter. This is a great function - it attaches to your tank, and wirelessly sends crucial info to your watch, for display and memory storage. Air-time and tank pressure info are provided, and your real-time tank pressure data is stored for later analysis. Note, the wireless transmitter cannot be bought separately. If it is a feature you want, make sure to purchase it with the watch.
The Suunto D9 has three operating modes- Air, Nitrox, or Gauge. Air mode is used for dives using standard air. The Nitrox mode can be used with up to 3 different gas mixes during a dive. Finally, Gauge mode - usually used for free-diving, provides detailed timing functionality. With the D9's advanced RGBM decompression algorithms, you can elect to use traditional safety stops or deep stops, which are calculated throughout the dive.
In Memory mode, your dive is graphically displayed, incorporating your real time depth, dive time, tank pressure, and temperature. When your back on land, you can review and analyze the details of your dive, upload dive data to your PC, create a logbook, monitor your progress, and share info with others.
