Selection of a speargun should be based on the type of fish you are going hunt and local regulations. The larger the gun, the bigger the fish it will stop. As you step down in size you will have greater maneuverability, but will require a gun with additional Spearfishing Bands to get the same effect of a longer gun. Another consideration is Pneumatic Spearguns. These can be pumped up while on the surface providing multiple shots without the difficulty of stretching bands.

Here in Florida, you must have a Fishing License to spearfish, and in the event of lobstering...you also need a crawfish stamp.
