Our Specialty Courses are either introductions to or are more detailed treatments of the respective areas of specialized diving. All of these courses result in additional qualifications and/or certifications for students who successfully complete all course requirements. Nitrox*
This class will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to utilize nitrox as a breathing gas on recreational dives. As a Nitrox Diver you will be able to extend your bottom time, have shorter surface intervals, enjoy more dives per day, experience less post-dive fatigue, and feel more comfortable and confident with your diving skills.
•Minimum age for this course is 15. Certification as an Open Water diver is required. Students must purchase the course materials separately.
Peak Performance Buoyancy
Buoyancy skills separate the good divers from the great divers. In the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course, you will learn to how to precisely weight yourself for optimum control, trim and balance. You learn to ascend and descend and move through the water so effortlessly, it seems like you only think about it and it happens. The weighting, breathing and visualization techniques you learn in this course will enable you to move through the water efficiently and gracefully and enhance your diving enjoyment. There will be 2 dives conducted in this course.
•Minimum Age for this course is 10. Certification as an Open Water diver is required.
Drift Diving
We highly recommend that you enroll in this program to familiarize yourself with the techniques and procedures to enjoy southern Florida drift diving. Skills covered include the planning of drift dives, awareness of potential problems and hazards associated with drift diving and use of dive flags, floats, lines and reels. The class also covers buoyancy-control, navigation, communications and helpful techniques for staying close to your buddy or together as a group. There will be 2 dives conducted in this course.
•Minimum Age for this course is 10. Certification as an Open Water diver is required.
Wreck Diving
This course provides you with the skills and knowledge needed to gain experience and minimize risks in wreck diving. Topics include safety, hazards and cautions relating to diving on wrecks, special risks of overhead environments and use of specialized equipment to increase dive safety. There will be 4 dives conducted over 2 days in this course.
•Minimum age for this course is 15 or 18 depending on the cerifying agency. Certification as an Open Water diver is required.
Deep Diving
This course provides you with the knowledge and skills to plan and make deep dives (dives from 60 to 130 feet) while minimizing risks and avoiding the need for stage decompression. There will be 4 dives conducted over 2 days in this course.
• Minimum age for this course is 15 or 18 depending on the cerifying agency. Certification as an Open Water diver is required.
Night Diving
This course is designed to provide you with a fundamental understanding of diving at night and in reduced visibility. It includes various activities in night and low-visibility diving, the special equipment required (especially lights), preparing for a limited visibility dive, and the advanced techniques of limited visibility diving. There will be 4 dives conducted over 2 days in this course.
•Minimum age for this course is 12. Certification as an Open Water diver is required.
Underwater Navigation
In this course, you will learn how to judge distance, effectively use your underwater compass, navigate various underwater courses and be able to control your buoyancy while maintaining depth and heading. There will be 3 dives conducted in this course.
•Minimum age for this course is 12. Certification as an Open Water diver is required.
Search & Recovery
This class further develops your skills in underwater navigation and limited visibility diving and introduces new skills, techniques and equipment used in underwater search and recovery procedures and light salvage. There will be 4 dives conducted in this course.
•Minimum age for this course is 12 or 15 depending on the cerifying agency. Certification as an Open Water diver is required.
Underwater Digital Photography - Level I*
This is a classroom course designed as an introduction to digital photography skills and knowledge. You will learn what equipment you need to take great underwater photographs, how to prepare your underwater photo system and basic underwater photo techniques.
• Minimum age for this course is 10. Students are required to have their own camera and underwater housing for this course. Students also must purchase the course manual separately.

Underwater Digital Photography - Level II
This course takes those skills learned in Level I and expands them to include more in-depth training on a variety of topics and emphasizes hands-on techniques in shooting, reviewing and editing your underwater digital photographs.There will be 2 dives conducted in this course.
• Minimum age for this course is 10. Certification as an Open Water diver is required. Students must have their own camera and underwater housing for this course. Students also must purchase the course manual separately.

First Aid / CPR*
This course is a prerequisite to the Rescue Diver course. In this session, you will learn CPR and first aid for adults, children and infants. You may also receive Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training and oxygen administration training.
Registration
Simply contact the Divers Direct store of your choice to register for this course. If there are no classes listed on our Event Calendar that meet your needs, one of our store managers will work with you to schedule a class.
Important Information
Some medical conditions will prevent you from diving. Some of the more common conditions are Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy and heart or lung conditions. Pregnancy is also a contraindication to diving. Some other medical conditions may also be a problem. If you are unsure about any specific condition, please contact us.
