Your course is divided into three parts:

• Academics - the first class includes an Orientation and Gear Consultation along with classwork. You will usually have two additional class sessions including time for your quizzes and final exam.
• Confined Water - this is where you learn your basic scuba skills. We typically schedule two to three pool sessions to make sure you feel comfortable and confident with your new scuba skills.
• Open Water - these dives will be completed over a two day period.

Simply contact the Divers Direct store of your choice to register for this course. If there are no classes listed on our Event Calendar that meet your needs, one of our store managers will work with you to schedule a class.

Prior to class, you will need to read the student manual and complete all homework assignments.

• Open Water Crewpack: Student Manual, dive tables and student logbook
• Use of Student Dive Gear: BCD, regulator, gauges, dive computer, tanks, air fills and weights.
• Academic class sessions
• Confined Water / Pool Training (scuba skills development) and facilities fees.
• Certification fee for the appropriate dive agency .

•Facility and/or boat fees for the Open Water dives.
•Personal dive gear, to include mask, fins, snorkel and exposure protection (wetsuit) appropriate for the local conditions.

•Some medical conditions will prevent you from diving. Some of the more common conditions are Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy and heart or lung conditions. Pregnancy is also a contraindication to diving. Some other medical conditions may also be a problem. If you are unsure about any specific condition, please contact us.
•The minimum age to participate in this course is 10 or 12, depending on certifying agency.
