Get the gear to catch these bugs anywhere! There are two types of lobster in the world, clawed and spiny. For those of us in the Americas, there is the Maine Lobster which is clawed and the Florida Spiny Lobster, which has no claws. Spiny lobsters are hunted only for their tails. All of these bugs are usually caught by scuba divers hunting them or fisherman trapping them. Divers Direct has all of the gear necessary for a great catch this lobster season!
Depending on where you are in the world, there may be different regulations that apply. Florida based Divers Direct is very familiar with the Florida Lobster Season, and the two day Mini Season which is always the last Wednesday and Thursday in July. The regular season is August 6th through March 31st. Lobster season is the only time you should be hunting lobster. If you must hunt you can always go for the lionfish anytime!
Size requirements are very important. It is essential to have a gauge on you while lobstering. You can choose from the different types of lobster gauges we carry. The lobster must be at least three inches from the horns to the carapace rear edge. Remember, that once a lobster is placed in a catch bag, it is considered to be in possession. So be careful about the size of your catch. Also, do not keep female lobsters bearing eggs, they must be released unharmed.
