confusion regarding upgrades

Pros:
Easy To Use, Functional
Cons:
Blurry Photos, Not Versatile
Best Uses:
Diving, Lake
easy to make photos. Ok but not spectacular. Unsure of advantages of upgrading to the DX 860 model or the 8000 model and why this is better or worse that the Sea Life cameras. Considering an upgrade for a Christmas present but not sure which way to go.
