Worked great on first dive trip. My wife and I each bought one and it hung from our BC for our entire trip. Fortunately, we didn't need it. At the end of our trip we practiced breathing from it during our safety stop.
it was very, very hard to breathe from == at 15 feet. Imagine at depth. But, we figured at least it's something.
On our subsequent trip, we couldn't even use one b/c it was leaking from the neck. The other one seemed OK. Again, at the end of the trip I tried breathing from it and it free flowed. nothing could stop it. Thrilled I didn't need it in an emergency.
Great product must have for extra safety when diving and can help in an out of air emergancy in shallow water. Thye cost is more than compensated by the benifts, added safety and peace of mind. Get one!
I would not dive without it! This is very cheap insurance and it's nice knowing you don't have to rely on anyone else in an emergency. Completely self-contained, easy to fill and use. My only complaint is I use it with a Genesis Recon BC and have yet to find a good way to mount it other than hanging from a "D" ring.
SpareAir should be required equipment for divers, especially if you dive solo. Easy to fill with adaptor, easy to mount to your BC, the holster is a very good addition. It is compact enough to stay out of the way, but holds enough air to surface safely in an emergency. Easy to use. Literature indicates 55 breaths, under stress I have gotten 45, still enough to surface safely. Only drawback is that it doesn't come with straps to connect to your tank if you want that option, although the holster will allow you to add your own. A great value[...]
Bought this product as a gift for a frienmd, then decided to get one for myself. It does precisely what it says it does, every time, no problem, no surprises. Not sure what else you can say really. It *is* a little expensive, but then it's the kind of thing that, when you need it, that's what you need, and nothing else will do. It's a nice little bit of extra insurance. The hardest part is figuring out where to put it so it doesn't get in the way but is still accessible. This takes a bit of fooling and experimentation. Once you've got that down tho, it's a great little piece of kit. I won't dive without it, now...
